<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive handwriting input device and handwriting input method that can acquire correct writing coordinate positions even if the paper is set at an incorrect position. <P>SOLUTION: The handwriting input device has a coordinate acquisition means for acquiring writing coordinates based on writing on a writing medium using a dedicated pen, an image input means for reading a graphic displayed on the writing medium, a data acquisition means for acquiring data embedded in the graphic read by the image input means, a graphic position identification means for identifying the position of the graphic in an image, and a storage means for storing and associating the data, graphic position and writing coordinates.
