PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk device which can achieve smooth recording and reproducing operation even when disk management information is erroneous. SOLUTION: A controller 11 compares disk management information obtained from a disk with the prescribed value in the prescribed value list and determines truth/falsehood of the disk management information. When the prescribed information item is erroneous among the disk information management, the error of the information item in which "propriety of correction" is "yes" is corrected, the error of the information item in which "propriety of correction" is "no" is not corrected, When all the prescribed information items in which "propriety of reproduction" is "no" have been already corrected among the corrected disk management information, reproducing operation for the optical disk is performed. Also. when all the prescribed information items in which "propriety of recording" is "no" have been already corrected among the corrected disk management information, recording operation for the optical disk is performed.
