PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a sender to select a pictorial character to be displayed together with activity information. SOLUTION: A terminal reports activity information showing an activity state of a user of the terminal mutually with another terminal and also displays activity information received from the other user, and the terminal includes an activity information storage unit, a pictorial character storage unit, a corresponding pictorial character receiving unit which receives one piece of activity information from the user and one pictorial character to be made to correspond to the one piece of activity information so that they correspond to each other, a transmission activity information receiving unit which receives the one piece of the activity information to be transmitted, a transmitting unit which transmits a character code for identifying the pictorial character to the other terminal together with the character code indicating the one piece of activity information, and a display unit which displays the pictorial character while making it correspond to the activity information.
