PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device that can reduce changes in luminance or the like of illumination light by a simple configuration.

SOLUTION: Irradiation light Lout from a light source unit 10 in which partial lighting sections 4 are sequentially turned on is received by a light receiving unit 13. A backlight driving unit 11 is controlled by a microcomputer 12 so as to control the emission luminous energy of each partial lighting section 4 based on the light reception data of the irradiation light from the partial lighting sections 4 located on a specified horizontal line in the light reception data D0 based on the light reception data from the light receiving unit 13. The size of the light reception data D1 sampled by an A/D converter 15 does not depend on a distance between the light receiving unit 13 and an on-state partial lighting section 4. This method does not complicate the configuration such as an increase in the number of parts.
