PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten processing time for production and verification of a digital signature and enable verification of consistency among versions, in a document management apparatus for achieving version management of a document composed of a plurality of files. SOLUTION: The document management apparatus 104 includes at least a CPU 202 and storage devices 203, 204, handles document data composed of a plurality of files as one unit, and stores an update history of the document data in the storage devices, wherein the storage devices 203, 204 store a hash value list including post-update file hash values as respective hash values of the plurality of files included in the document data and pre-update file hash values as respective hash values of pre-update files for the files, and the digital signature added to the hash value list.
