PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recording apparatus and a method whereby images of a good image quality can be recorded. SOLUTION: In the inkjet recording apparatus 10 which records the images to both front and rear surfaces of a recording sheet 12, when a time after the ink is hit to a region of the front surface side of the recording sheet 12 before the ink is hit to a corresponding region of the rear surface side is madeΔT1 [sec], a time after the ink is hit to a region of the front surface side of the recording sheet 12 before the region comes in contact with a member is madeΔT2 [sec], and viscosity of the ink is madeη[mPa×sec], the formula (1):ΔT1<0.45×ηand the formula (2):ΔT2>1 are satisfied. A shape of the ink hit to the rear surface can be prevented from being broken from a perfect circle, and also the image quality can be prevented from being degraded as a result of that the ink hit to the front surface comes in contact with the member before being dried.
