PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus capable of stably obtaining a high quality image by maintaining a constant distance between a manuscript face and point light sources arrayed on a light source substrate, thereby uniformizing the distribution of the illumination of the manuscript face. SOLUTION: The image reading apparatus includes a light source 22 formed from the plurality of point light sources 30 arrayed on the light source substrate 31 in a main scanning direction, and reads the image of a manuscript by scanning the manuscript face by means of light emitted from the light source 22 to the manuscript face. In the image reader, the light source substrate 31 is mounted on an intermediate mounting member 33, and the intermediate mounting member 33 is positioned and fixed to the first scanning frame body 28 and a base mounting member 28A together with the light source substrate 31.
