PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device of a long life with a sealing property by a sealing material improved, and a method of manufacturing the display device. SOLUTION: The device includes an array substrate 100 with a display element of a top-emission type on a display area 101, a sealing substrate 200 arranged in opposition to a display element side of the array substrate 100, and a sealing material 400 arranged in a frame-shape sealing region 102 further outward of the display area 101 for adhering the array substrate 100 and the sealing substrate 200. The sealing substrate 200 includes a groove part G in at least a part between the display area 101 and the sealing region 102, and moreover, includes a moisture absorption material 500 arranged in the groove part G and protruded toward the array substrate 100 from a main surface 200P of the sealing substrate 200.
