PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display system and an image display device capable of displaying an image with high luminance, high contrast, a high grayscale degree and a color gamut in a large screen by a simple configuration compared to prior arts. SOLUTION: The image display system displays an image by detachably fixing a printed material having translucency on the display screen. The system includes display unit having a display screen and a plurality of solid light emitting elements, a density value reading unit that detects the density value of the printed material having the translucency, and a controlling unit that sets the controlled value of the solid light emitting element correspondingly to the density value, wherein the plurality of light emitting elements irradiate the printed material with light corresponding to the controlled value.
