PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical panel mounting mechanism for achieving quality improvement by mounting an optical panel of a polarizer or the like on a mounting part, without looseness or using an adhesive, and to provide a projection image display that uses the mechanism. SOLUTION: A fixing metal piece 70 is provided separately with pressing pieces 71, 74 and 75 for elastically pressing downward proximately arranged two optical panels (a polizer 41g and a front polarizer 42g), and pressing pieces 72, 73, 76 and 77 for elastically pressing the panel in the lateral direction.
