A planar metal platen ( 1 ) facing an ink jet recording head ( 2 ) for ejecting solvent-based ink is fixed to a metal frame ( 4 ) through support members ( 9 ) molded of polyphenylene sulfide containing glass fiber, the platen ( 1 ) not coming into direct contact with the frame ( 4 ). The platen ( 1 ) is provided with a heater ( 7 ) mounted thereto for quickly drying ink on a recording medium on the platen ( 1 ). Each of the supporting members ( 9 ) is fixed to the frame ( 4 ) by a bolt ( 10 ) passing through an elongated hole ( 9 a), and by shifting a position of the bolt ( 10 ) in the elongated hole ( 9 a), a relative position of the support members ( 9 ) and the platen ( 1 ) supported by the support members ( 9 ), and the frame ( 4 ) and the ink jet recording head ( 1 ) supported thereby can be adjusted. Consequently, transfer of heat from the heater to the platen is suppressed and partial temperature difference of the platen is suppressed, thereby enabling favorable recording.
