<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling luminance of a backlight assembly by which variation of the luminance of the backlight assembly by variables other than external luminance change, for example, external temperature variations, variation between products, time passage and the like, may be minimized, to provide a circuit for controlling luminance of the backlight assembly, and to provide a display device having the same. <P>SOLUTION: The method for controlling the luminance of the backlight assembly has a step of setting a reference voltage V<SB>REF</SB>, a step of generating a sampling voltage V<SB>S</SB>based on the reference voltage and a net photo current signal which is generated by a photo current sensing element and a dark current sensing element and whose current level is generated independently of temperature variations, a step of generating a luminance control signal V<SB>Dim</SB>based on the sampling voltage V<SB>S</SB>, and a step of controlling the luminance of the backlight assembly using the luminance control signal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
