PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method by which a 2-oxindole derivative, an important intermediate for various medications, dye stuffs or the like can be obtained with simple operation, at high yield and quality without using a particular raw material or the like. SOLUTION: The new method includes: obtaining a 2-oxindole derivative by deoxidizing the hydrazone body of a corresponding isatin by a Wolff-Kischnar reductive reaction; and then crystallizing the resultant reaction liquid while being kept alkaline to take out the 2-oxindole derivative with extremely high purity.
