<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator having high air-conditioning capacity, while saving electric power, by sufficiently performing air-conditioning, even in a multi-car elevator such as intermittently supplying electric power. <P>SOLUTION: This elevator has an air conditioner for adjusting the temperature in a car 7 moving in a hoistway, and has a power transmission device 11 arranged in the hoistway and a power receiving device 10 arranged in the car 7, and has a power supply device 9 supplying electric power to the car 7 side in a noncontact state by opposing the power transmission device 11 and the power receiving device 10 when the car 7 stops on the respective story floors, an electric power storage unit for storing the supplied electric power and supplying the electric power to the air conditioner, a compressor and a fan arranged in the air conditioner.
