PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To apply most suitable metadata to a content. SOLUTION: A metadata extraction part 52 extracts extraction metadata from the content, and a metadata list 23a to store representative metadata and similar metadata in association with each other is stored in a storage part 23. A metadata comparison means 53 compares extraction metadata with representative metadata and similar metadata, and a metadata conversion part 55 converts the extraction metadata to representative metadata associated with similar metadata matched with the extraction metadata when the extraction metadata and similar metadata are matched, and a metadata applying means 56 applies the representative metadata to the content, whereby the most suitable metadata can be applied to the content.
