PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an individual scanner to increase feeding precision of an image reading sensor in a scanner wherein a stepping motor is used for a scan motor. SOLUTION: When a rotating speed setting operation of the scan motor is performed with a key operation part (YES in #1), a printer with a scanner starts control in a motor speed setting mode (#2). Afterward, when the image reading operation is performed with the key operation part (YES in #3), the scan motor is rotated and driven at the previously set rotating speed to execute the image reading operation (#4), and examines the feeding precision of the image reading sensor based on an image signal of the image read by the image reading operation (#5). Then, if the feeding precision of the image reading sensor satisfies a reference value (YES in #6), the rotating speed of the scan motor in the examination at that time is set to the rotating speed of the scan motor for the subsequent image reading operation (#8).
