PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television apparatus capable of informing a user of existence of broadcasting at a channel currently displayed on screen and expressing a new selectable channel while displaying existence of broadcasting on screen, when there is no broadcasting. SOLUTION: A synchronizing separator circuit 12 separates a color television signal, and a microcomputer 15 detects a synchronizing signal of the separated color television signal and determines whether there is broadcasting or not. When the microcomputer 15 determines that there is no broadcasting, a sub screen for broadcasting a plurality of channels beforehand registered on screen is displayed on scaler portion 13.
