PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide small-sized structure enabling high frequency transmission in a semiconductor laser module and an optical transmitter utilizing the same. SOLUTION: The semiconductor laser module holds a semiconductor laser element airtightly sealed inside via a stem having a coaxial part sealed with glass. A conductive pattern is formed on a heat dissipating substrate extending from the stem coaxial part to the semiconductor laser element. The semiconductor laser module connects the stem coaxial part and the semiconductor laser element respectively with wire bonding or soldering. When impedances of the pattern on the heat dissipating substrate, the stem coaxial part, and a mounting lead part of the semiconductor laser module are respectively represented by Z<SB>1</SB>, Z<SB>2</SB>and Z<SB>3</SB>, Z<SB>1</SB>≤Z<SB>2</SB><Z<SB>3</SB>, or Z<SB>3</SB>>Z<SB>1</SB>>Z<SB>2</SB>is satisfied.
