PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a tube expander sensitively detecting an insertion error of a mandrel caused by a dislocation or drop of a bracket plate and stopping the expanding operation before the mandrel is damaged. SOLUTION: A tube expander expands each of a plurality of tube materials 13 by pressing a plurality of mandrels 1, the front ends of which are provided with expanding materials 5, in the opened end part of the plurality of tube materials 13, which are held by a large number of heat radiating fins, so that the heat radiating fins and the tube materials are joined. The tube expander is provided with load sensors 8 for detecting loads, which are attached to definite ones of the plurality of sensors, and with a controller 9 for controlling the mandrels so that the press-in of the mandrels is stopped when the detected result of the load sensors exceeds a preset specified value.
