<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit sheets of printing paper to be saved by effectively using blank space areas of the printing sheets and an accurate detection of blank space areas, printing of printing data to detected blank space areas and identification of previously printed printing data to be performed. <P>SOLUTION: The inkjet printer has a print head 135 discharging ink, a carriage 134 equipped with the print head, and an engine portion 130 transporting sheets of printing paper, and prints prescribed printing data to the printing sheet in accordance with the received printing data by discharging ink from the print head while moving the carriage forward and backward. The printer has a means 136 to read the printed area in the sheets of printing paper, a means to store the printed area information, and a controller section 120 detecting largest blank space areas by using the stored printed area information and printing the printing data to the largest blank space areas, and detects the largest blank space areas in the sheets of printing paper and prints printing data to the detected largest blank space areas. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
