PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve high-speed accurate autofocus control by switching an optimum control method fit to the drive characteristic of a focus lens in an interchangeable lens. SOLUTION: The control width in speed control of the interchangeable lens 2 at constant speed is set so as to communicate with a camera body 1 through communication between the camera body 1 and the interchangeable lens 2. The camera body 1 obtains the control width in the speed control of the interchangeable lens 2 at constant speed, whereby the drive characteristic of the focus lens 21 in the interchangeable lens 2 can be recognized. Thus, the camera body 1 performs the autofocus control by an optimum control method when performing autofocus, and the camera system which is accurately focused in a short period of time is obtained.
