PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of determining quickly a branch. SOLUTION: A dotted line drawn on a road face of a main line is detected based on respective frame images photographed by a camera when a vehicle travels on the main line branched in an advancing direction of the vehicle, a current position is determined to be on a branch line when the dotted line detected in each frame image is positioned in a diagonal direction in a frame image photographed thereafter, and the calculated current position is corrected in response to the determination.
