摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a perpendicular magnetic recording medium wherein medium noise is reduced and surface recording density is enhanced and which has satisfactory magnetic recording characteristics. SOLUTION: In the perpendicular magnetic recording medium, a multilayered magnetic recording layer is used. The mutilayered magnetic recording layer includes a first magnetic layer provided on a non-magnetic intermediate layer in contact therewith and including magnetic crystal grains containing Co and an amorphous oxide, a second magnetic layer provided on the first magnetic layer in contact therewith, comprising a main component composed of at least either of Pt and Cr and Co and a sub component composed of at least one selected from the group consisting of B, Ta, Mo, Cu, Nd, W, Nb, Sm, Tb, Ru and Re and being a feebly magnetic layer having saturation magnetization Ms in a range of nearly 50≤Ms≤150 emu/cc and a third magnetic layer provided on the second magnetic layer in contact therewith and including magnetic crystal grains containing Co and an oxide.
