PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety device for preventing or delaying a fall or slide of an apparatus in an earthquake even if it is not fastened to a floor with a bolt, and to provide a method for installing an apparatus using the safety device. SOLUTION: The safety device having a vertical member connected to at least an apparatus and a horizontal member installed on the floor, and the method for installing the apparatus using the safety device are provided. In the safety device, the vertical member has one or more connecting means, and the horizontal member has a viscoelastic member. The method includes the process of pressing the vertical member against the side surface of the apparatus and pressing the horizontal member against the floor so as to reduce the thickness of the viscoelastic member by 5-30%, and the process of connecting the vertical member to the side surface of the apparatus by the connecting means so as to maintain the pressed state.
