PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform washing securing fixed washing power or more even while suppressing damages to and wrinkles of laundry generated by the compound effect of a high temperature and impact force of washing by hitting in a high temperature washing step. SOLUTION: The drum type washing machine can perform a hot water agitation washing step of turning a heater 41 ON and rotating a rotary drum 24 at a first prescribed rotational speed for performing the agitation operation of dropping the laundry lifted upwards by the rotation of the rotary drum 24 until a temperature detection means 42 detects a first prescribed temperature from the ON start of the heater 41, and a temperature adjusting step of turning the heater 41 OFF after the temperature detection means 42 detects the first prescribed temperature and turning the heater 41 ON when the temperature detection means 42 detects a low second prescribed temperature. In the temperature adjusting step, the rotation of the rotary drum 24 is controlled so as to give agitation force smaller than the agitation force to be given to the laundry in the hot water agitation washing step to the laundry.
