PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a socket terminal capable of applying uniform spring force to the whole periphery of a sleeve and easily changing the spring force. SOLUTION: A coil spring 65 is provided as an external spring member to be fitted to the outer periphery of the sleeve 53 to give a force to reduce the diameter of the sleeve 53.This can give a uniform spring force to the whole periphery of the sleeve 53 and increase the contact area and pressure between respective fingers 61 of the sleeve 53 and the round pin 22 approximately uniformly.Consequently, this can reduce areas at which contact resistances increase and assure a stable connection quality.It is possible to change the spring force exerted on the sleeve 53 from the coil spring 65 just by changing the pitch, namely the number of coils, of the coil spring 65.
