PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle length measuring system and method that allow introducing a facility for automatically measuring the length of a vehicle without requiring large-scale remodeling work. SOLUTION: The length of a vehicle 2 is measured through simple narrowband communication while using a first and a second wireless communication device 3, 4 for narrowband communication, installed in front of and behind a vehicle 2, respectively, a measuring-station-side wireless communication device 8 for narrowband communication, installed in a measuring station 7, and a computer 9, so as to automatically measure the length of the vehicle 2 without requiring large-scale remodeling work around the measuring station 7.
