<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable generation of backup of data in a storage medium which can be read by a stand-alone printer without a host device. <P>SOLUTION: A printer 1 is provided with a first interface connected to a host device 7 by USB and a second interface which is independent from the first interface and connected to an external storage device 50 by USB. The printer 1 is also provided with a card reader/writer 35 of reading/writing data with respect to a memory card 5 and a USB host controller 250. The printer 1 communicates with the external storage device 50 by using the external storage device 50 as a storage class by the USB host controller 250. As a result, with no intermediation of the host device 7, JPEG image files in the memory card 5 attached to the printer 1 can be transferred to the external storage device 50. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
