<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a robust lighting system for a display unit easy to arrange the display unit. <P>SOLUTION: The lighting system is provided with a case 1 which has an opening part for irradiating light of a light source on the display unit L, and supports the light source 2, and a diffusion means 3 provided on the opening part. A reinforcing plate 5 which is translucent and thick is also provided on the opening part of the case 1 so as to face to the display unit. Chassis 41-46 having a fixing means of the reinforcing plate 5 are provided on a side surface of the case 1. The chassis are structured of a plurality of bars.
