PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting tool which can suppress the wear and deformation of a tool body caused by a cutting force and the use for a long time period, and can keep the accuracy of the tool body high for a long time period, and can elongate the life of the tool body by reducing the cutting force to be applied to each of the inserts in cutting. SOLUTION: In the cutting tool 1, the tool body 2 is turned about an axis O. First recessed portions are formed on outer periphery side of both side surfaces of the tool body 2. First attaching seats are provided in the first recessed portions. First inserts 40 are attached on the first attaching seats. First supporting plates 5 are detachably attached to the rear side of the first inserts 40 in the turning direction T of the tool in the first recessed portions so as to support the rear side of the first inserts 40 in the turning direction T. The first supporting plates 5 have an L shape in the side view of the tool body 2, wherein the L shape is formed such that a base portion and an elongated portion are integratedly formed, which elongated portion has the width narrower than that of one side of the square formed by the base portion, and elongates from the one side toward the outer periphery side of the tool body.
