PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new means in which a communication device smoothly obtains an upgrade version of a firmware. SOLUTION: The communication device comprises: processors 11b, 12a for processing for a network communication; and a memory having boot regions 11d-1, 12c-1 for storing the firmware for operating the processors. The communication device further comprises: an obtaining means for obtaining the upgrade version of the firmware from an external unit; a temporarily storing means for temporarily storing the obtained upgrade version to a temporal storage region provided in the memory; a stand-by means for standing by after the upgrade version of the firmware is obtained from the external unit until a given time period elapses so as to wait until the other communication devices in a network obtains the upgrade version of the firmware; and an upgrade means for shifting the upgrade version of the firmware temporarily stored to the temporal storage region to the boot region of the memory after the stand-by by the stand-by means.
