PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small feeder for feeding sheets of recording paper 130 one by one. SOLUTION: The small feeder comprises a first gear 210 to be rotationally driven, a second gear 220 for meshing with the first gear 210, a third gear 230 including a tooth lacking portion 235, to be frictionally driven by the second gear 220, a fourth gear 240 including a tooth lacking portion 245, to be rotated integrally with the third gear 230, a fifth gear 250 for rotating a feed shaft 252, and a locking lever 280 for restricting the rotation of the fourth gear 240 each time for rotation. With the disengagement of the locking lever 280, the first gear 210 meshes with the third gear 230 and the fourth gear 240 meshes with the fifth gear 250 to transmit the driving force of the first gear 210 to the feed shaft 252. With the engagement of the locking lever 280, the tooth lacking portion 235 of the third gear 230 faces the first gear 210 and the tooth lacking portion 245 of the fourth gear 240 faces the fifth gear 250 to cancel the mesh with each other.
