PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hammer for a sheet metal working capable of easily working the plate, holding posture of a head piece, absorbing and relaxing impact and improving stability of motion. SOLUTION: This hammer for the sheet metal working is furnished with a hammer body 2, the head piece 3 fitted and installed free to move in the longitudinal direction on an end part in the longitudinal direction of this hammer body 2 and having a hammering surface 3a on its head end part, a connecting pin 4 to connect the hammer body 2 and the head piece 3 to each other while allowing the motion and an elastic body 5 to constantly return the head piece 3 to the initial position against the hammer body 2, and the connecting pin 4 is installed on a fitting and installing part of the head piece 3 and the hammer body 2 by passing through in the cross direction orthogonal with the longitudinal direction of the hammer body 2.
