PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating surface inspection method capable of detecting the fine projections on a surface to be coated with high precision while sufficiently wiping off the dust or the like adhered to the surface to be coated. SOLUTION: The coating surface inspection method is characterized in that the dust or the like adhered to the surface to be coated is wipen off using cleaning dust removing cloth 1, which is formed by fusion-cutting knitted cloth 2, which is obtained by the raschel knitting of long fibers comprising a synthetic fibers or the processed fibers thereof, in its longitudinal direction, while the fine projections T on the surface to be coated are detected by the touch caused by that fine projections T on the surface to be coated enter the stitches S1 of raschel knitting of the cleaning dust removing cloth 1 and the fibers f1 in the periphery of the stitches S1 of raschel knitting of the cleaning dust removing cloth 1 are hooked to the projections T.
