A material is conveyed by feeding material to conveying pipe (4); and conveying the pipe to separator device in which the transferred material is separated from conveying air. Underpressure is achieved to the pipe with an ejector apparatus (6), a suction side of which is combined with the separator device. The ejector apparatus is operated with an actuating medium, preferably liquid mist. An independent claim is also included for an apparatus for conveying material by pressure difference in conveying pipe, comprising conveying pipe for the material, a separator device, and a mechanism for achieving underpressure to the conveying pipe with an ejector apparatus the suction side of which is connected to the separator device and comprising nozzle for spraying liquid mist and utilizing as the actuating medium of the ejector and a mechanism for feeding the liquid for the nozzle.
