Classes 64(i) and 123(ii) In a boiler comprising a combustion chamber with water-jacketed walls a, b, c, d, an inclined water-tube unit located between and communicating with the walls comprises upper and lower headers m<SP>1</SP>, m<SP>2</SP>, joined by spaced tubes m<SP>3</SP> and the upper part d<SP>1</SP> of the water-jacketed rear wall d is forwardly inclined parallel to the tubes and has a flue gas outlet s near its bottom. A baffle plate r is provided above the tube unit. The tubes may be triangular in crosssection. The boiler walls may be made in two sections, as shown in Fig. 4. One or more other sections shaped as shown in Fig. 5 may be interposed between the sections of Fig. 4.
