The method involves determining position and orientation of a remote control and/or a user in an area relative to a reference system in a quasi continuous manner corresponding to a scanning rate by a three-dimensional inertial sensor. Momentary position and orientation of an audio and/or video device relative to the user is determined, so that the position and orientation of the audio and/or the video device is changed corresponding to the position and location, to attain an optimal pre-determined position and orientation relative to the user. An independent claim is also included for a device for implementation of a method for aligning and positioning an audio and/or video device relative to a user during the use of a remote control.
