A dynamic headrest (14) for a vehicle seat, having a moveable shell (18) to support an occupant's head, and an actuator (16) which has a rotary motion resulting in linear displacement of the shell. The actuator may have a cam (26) on a central axis fixed relative to a support post (52), and a cam follower (28) fixed relative to the shell such that the cam follower imparts linear movement upon rotation of the cam, without a connection between the same. The actuator may include a spring triggered to provide the rotation. A locking mechanism (34) may prevent rearward movement until required. |
