Polymer foil (I) comprises cyclic olefinic copolymers (COC) and/or cyclic olefinic polymers (COP) (50 % or less (preferably 40 % or less) and is stretched along the machine direction). Independent claims are also included for: (1) an article, wound around with a label or packing made from (I), which is shrunk on the article; (2) an article, wound with a lengthened polymer film comprising COC/COP; (3) the preparations of (I); and (4) an article comprising a container with an outer surface including at least two sections with different cross sectional diameters and a polymer foil, which covers the extent at least the two sections of the outer surface and thus the outline of the sections closely and essentially follows uniformly, where the polymer foil has a density, which is smaller than the density of water.
