The invention refers to biotechnology, namely to processes for ergosterol obtaining, precursor of vitamin D2 from Saccharomyces yeast. The process, according to the invention, includes congelation of the moist yeast biomass during 30à60 min, at the temperature of -18?C, saponification of biomass with a mixture of sodium hydroxide, water and isopropyl alcohol taken in the ratio of 25:50:25, correspondingly, into a water bath with the temperature of 75?C during 30à60 min, cooling of biomass and addition of the isopropyl alcohol, periodical agitation during 30 min, separation of the unsaponifiable extract containing ergosterol and alcohol, and distillation of the alcohol into a vacuum vaporizer. The result of the invention consists in increasing by 18.3à31.9% the extracted ergosterol content and in decreasing the time of the obtaining process thereof.
