The method involves recording a set of images (31, 33) of a log (12) and determining an angle from the images, where the log is rotated around the angle relative to a preset target-rotary position. Another set of images (71, 72) of the log in the target-rotary position is produced by using a digital camera. Third set of images (35, 37) of the log is produced during the rotation of the log. The third set of image is compared with the set of images (71, 72). The rotation of the log is stopped, if the third set of images covers the latter set of images in a preset proximity. An independent claim is also included for a device for demounting logs in a saw device.
