A liquid crystal display device is provided to improve a transmissivity of the LCD and to prevent the texture generation by forming electric field in a notch formed in a cut pattern. A liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate(100); a pixel electrode(150) formed on the first substrate and having a pixel electrode cut pattern(151); a second substrate opposite to the first substrate; a common electrode(250) formed on the second substrate, with a common electrode cut pattern(252); and a first 1/4 wavelength plate formed at least one portion of the pixel electrode cut pattern and the common electrode cut pattern adjacent to each other, and a second 1/4 wavelength plate formed at a portion corresponding to the first 1/4 wavelength plate on the common electrode, the first and second 1/4 wavelength plates being adapted on the pixel electrodes.
