The present invention relates to a process for finishing porous, stony material slabs or blocks, comprising the following sequential steps:
- prearranging a stony material slab or block (1) to be treated, having a noble surface (1a) and an opposite surface thereto (1 b);
- placing at least one hardenable fluid resinous coating material in contact with at least the noble surface (1a) of said slab. The process further comprises a step of arranging said slab or block (1) in a controlled pressure environment, thereby creating a predetermined pressure at at least one of said noble (1a) and opposite (1b) surfaces of said slab or block (1) to cause a controlled, forced penetration of said at least one resinous material into the pores of said slab or block at at least said noble surface (1a).
