The method involves using a software (6) partially provided with a project-specific program section (10), which is accessible based on a software environment provided project-independently in a startblock (8) of a control device (2). A dispatcher is used to transmit an identifying parameter of the program section which is accessed as an input variable of the environment. The dispatcher is used for examining whether the program section is available. Test routines of the environment are replaced by the project-specific program sections. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a computer program with program code to accomplish a method for controlling a control device (2) a computer program product to accomplish a method for controlling a control device.
