A support assembly (10) for use in shelving structures. The assembly includes an upright tubular post (11) with a forward and a rearward surface (12, 13) and at least one base support leg (16) secured to a lower end of the post. The upright post has a series of apertures (28) along at least its forward surface enabling attachment of shelving support brackets thereto. The assembly is strengthened by a bracket (23) co-operable between the forward face of the post and the adjacent base support leg, the strengthening bracket being characterised by integral tab members (27) passing through at least one of the apertures in the forward face of the post, and preferably also through an aperture in a rearward face of the post whereby the shelving support brackets remain co-operable in the apertures in the forward or rearward face of the post despite positioning of the strengthening bracket. The strengthening bracket is secured to the base support leg.
