A self-sustaining container of a heat-sealable plastic is formed with an integral flange at its open-end, said flange being formed with a groove spaced inwardly from the. outer edge of the flange, to define a path for tearing off said flange the container being closed by a cover heat sealed only to that part of the integral flange that is spaced outwardly of said groove. In Fig. 2 the open ended body 11C has an integral flange 12C formed with a tear groove at 13C. A re-usable cover 14C is screwed into the body 11C and a disposable cover 20C extends over the cover 14C and the flange 12C, the cover 20C being heat sealed to the flange 12C outwardly of the groove 13C. In Fig. 4 the re-usable cover 14D has a finger grip projection 18D and is securable in the container 11D by projections on the cover moving in grooves in the container. The disposable cover 20D is heat sealed to the curved flange 12D outwardly of a tear groove 13D therein. So-called snap-threads may also be used to releasably secure the re-usable cover in position. The disposable cover 20D may have an aperture through which the portion 18D extends and the base may be recessed at 22D to facilitate stocking. If the disposable cover is sufficiently thick it may have a groove corresponding to the grooves 13C or 13D. Grooves may also extend across. the flanges from their outer edges to the grooves 13C or 13D to facilitate tearing.</p> |
