The system has an objective arrangement with an optical axis and an object plane for receiving light emitted from the object plane in a spatial angular range and transferring it to a beam on the image side (13g), an arrangement for selecting at least one pair of sub beams (91g1-91g8) and an image transfer arrangement for producing representations of the images produced by the at least one pair of sub beams and a controller (49g) for the selection arrangement. An independent claim is also included for a stereo image generation method.
