The device (1) has an area (2 `) in which a one-way pouch (3) that is to be filled with a material is arranged, and a pre-chamber (4) for intermediate positioning of the material. The pre-chamber is upstream to the area that is assigned to a support device (5) which holds back the material within the area by an absorption process. A permanent passage (6) is between the pre-chamber and the area, and enables an extension of the pouch from the area into the pre-chamber for complete lining of the pre-chamber. An independent claim is also included for a method for gathering waste material.
