<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat insulator for slag excellent in a prolonged heat insulating effect and so on, a method for heat insulation of slag using the heat insulator, and a method for treating a wasted heat insulator containing calcium silicate. <P>SOLUTION: The heat insulator for slag comprises calcium silicate, preferably calcium silicate and cokes, more particularly calcium silicate, cokes and glass fiber. The method for heat insulation of slag comprises covering with the heat insulator for slag a part or the whole of a surface of slag which remains on at least one trough selected from among an outlet trough for a molten pig iron from a blast furnace, a trough for a molten pig iron and a trough of slag under being directly exposed to air, whereby coagulation of the slag surface can be prevented. The method for treating a wasted heat insulator for slag containing calcium silicate comprises subjecting the heat insulator for slag containing calcium silicate in which a wasted heat insulator containing calcium silicate is used as the calcium silicate ingredient to treatment as a part of slag after using it in the method for heat insulation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
