PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable considerable map information services to be provided even if a memory at the terminal becomes little or detailed maps cannot be downloaded. SOLUTION: A server 1302 comprises a retrieval engine 403 for retrieving a map from a map DB 405, based on a destination and the current position transmitted from a terminal 1306, a route calculator 406 for calculating a route leading to the destination, a map display position setting unit 408 for determining a spot where a guide route information contg. map data is to be down- loaded on the terminal 1306, based on the calculated route, and a curtail judging unit 412 for curtailing information to be transmitted, based on terminal information from the terminal 1306. This judging unit 412 has a priority defining table for defining the priority of each map element information contained in the map DB 405. |
